Mr. Emad passes away

And so he is gone.

After working with him for three years very closely, our GM Mr. Emad expired yesterday at 0300. We had our ups and downs and a fair share of disagreements on the decisions he took. But at the end of the day, he stuck out  as a very supportive person. Probably one of the best memories is the trip with him to Dubai and the dining. We talked a lot of his ideas for the office ( sadly, didn't materialize the way he imagined ! ).

This is the third time in my professional life, I have lost a colleague to death. This was was a bit more hard as he had be ailing for sometime. In fact in his last meeting with us two days back, he was feeling so energetic and in fact jokingly told us he wanted to give us all a pay raise before he died !!

But the manner in which his death was simply brushed aside with the office working as normal, no sad faces, coffee doing its rounds, people going about their way very normally shocked me. What kind of work cultural are we living in? Don't we have any kind of respect for the person who sat along with you eight or more hours a day and worked? The funeral was understandable, as religiously once a person is dead he to be buried as soon as possible and his material body gotten rid off. But there were people talking business there...which was ridiculous !

Anyway, you are what you are when alive, after you are dead..you are simply rotting waste. People will forget you faster than the movies they see everyday. But some classics are forever imprinted in your mind. Mr. Emad will remain one in my mind.
